Pam feeding flamingoes.Tell me an interesting/fun/cool fact about yourself.
I own a classic 1966 Pontiac GTO. My first car, back many years ago, was a blue 1966 GTO. Of course, I sold it to get a newer car. However, about 15 years later, on the way to a softball tournament for my daughter in Midland, there sat a blue 1966 GTO for sale. Yes, on the way home, we bought it and still own it. Fun to go to classic car shows and to drive it to special occasions.

My first job was picking blueberries on my grandparent’s farm (not fun by any means, except that 5 of my cousins were there, too). After college, I started working at F&M Bank in Benton Harbor were my life-long career in the trust and wealth management division started. During my 35-plus years, I had only one move to another banking institution, Inter-City Bank — now known as Huntington Bank after many mergers and acquisitions — where I retired in the Fall of 2023.

Give me another snapshot of what it is your do here at BCF.
My duties are to assist the finance director and her team with various day-to-day accounting transactions.

How do you get involved in the community?
I support local area organizations, by volunteering; making donations and attending fundraising events. I was the treasurer for the SW Michigan Estate Planning Council from 2014-2023, resigning that position late in 2023.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I love being outside in the fresh air where I enjoy —

  • Watching sunsets
  • Watching my grandkiddos ball games
  • Gardening
  • Having an adult beverage at one of the area’s local wineries/breweries

What kinds of activities energize you?
Exercising - I try to workout at least 5 days a week (cardio drumming, resistive exercise, calisthenics or just plain walking).
Traveling to places on my bucket list. In the last year, I walked the Mackinac Bridge over Labor Day and toured New York City. Both Las Vegas and seeing all of the lighthouses along the Michigan shoreline are pending items on my bucket list.

What’s something you’ve done, but you’ll never do again?
Downhill snow skiing. I couldn’t figure out to slow down or stop. It was a rough experience, that I will not attempt again.

What’s your favorite place to eat around here?
Silver Beach Pizza

What is the one thing you cannot resist?
Popcorn (be it plain, buttered, cheesy or caramel). My dog cannot resist it, either, and is great a begging until he has his share.

Pam standing on the Mackinac Bridge. What’s the weirdest job you ever had?
While it was not a real job, I was part of a team that built a cardboard boat for a local fundraising event. Our boat didn’t win, but it made it all the way through the course without sinking. I consider that a huge accomplishment.

What’s one of your favorite parts of your job?
I only recently joined the team at BCF, but I would say the colleagues here – everyone has been very welcoming and professional.

What makes you excited to work at BCF?
I am excited and proud to be part of BCF and support its mission and vision to build strong, vibrant and sustainable communities.
