Senior Care Kits

Can you give some time to care for Berrien County senior citizens?

a photo showing items in the senior care kit, which includes gloves, soap and shampooGiving comes in many forms. On Giving Tuesday, we need volunteers to give their time to help us pack and wrap over 900 care kits for our local low-income, homebound senior citizens. Please sign up in the form below!

We ask our volunteers to pick up a kit of items and instructions on Giving Tuesday to take home and assemble into wrapped gift boxes that will be delivered to our area seniors. These Senior Care Kits contain items such as basic care items like toothpaste and lotion, but also other things like a flannel scarf, nail clippers and first aid kit. We also add some fun things like adult puzzle books and candy. This is a great volunteer project for families.

Once your kits are assembled and wrapped, you can return them to the Berrien Community Foundation the following Monday. The Senior Care Kits are then delivered by our friends at Area Agency on Aging and Meals on Wheels

The Lester & Barbara Paige Sr. Endowment Fund at Berrien Community Foundation helps to fund this project along with support from Corewell Health Foundation (formerly Spectrum Health Lakeland Foundation), Frederick S. Upton Foundation, Heart of Cook Foundation, Honor Credit Union, Huntington Bank and private donations.

- When out-of-pocket medical costs are factored in, 1 in 7 are below the poverty level.

- Every day, seniors are forced to choose between medicine, food or basic care items
